WASHINGTON CO. COMMISSIONERS TO HOLD WORKSHOP ON POTENTIAL SOLID WASTE ORDINANCE

A workshop regarding the possible creation of a solid waste ordinance will be part of Tuesday's proceedings for Washington County Commissioners.

The court is considering authorizing its legal counsel, Allison, Bass & Magee, LLP, to prepare an ordinance that would designate areas in Washington County where municipal and solid waste disposal are not prohibited. The ordinance would block solid waste disposal in other areas.

The legal counsel would also be instructed to prepare a takings impact assessment concerning the ordinance and schedule a public hearing on the proposed assessment and ordinance.

In regular session, commissioners will potentially act upon approving overtime pay for any county employee that assists the Tax Assessor-Collector's Office due to vacancies. The item comes after several employees in the office abruptly walked out on Thursday.

In addition, the court will vote on consolidating polling places for the November 7th constitutional amendment election.
